Special Places to Visit

Honolulu Museum of Art

Beautiful art in a Beautiful building. Located in downtown Honolulu, close to the State Capitol. Fine art from all over the world. One room is devoted to Hawaiian art. They have a fine cafe for lunch (reservations suggested).

Don Quijote

This is a big "general store" with several locations on the Island. The one in downtown Honolulu is a few blocks from Ala Moana Center. A great place to buy Hawaiian products of all kinds and souviners at prices that beat the ABC stores

. Plus it is a well-stocked grocery store with a fantastic offering of bento boxes.

Hike to the top of Diamond Head

A great way to view the city. See the description on my Hikes page.

Of course, we cannot forget Waikiki Beach. Yes, it is very crowded, but it is the stereotype of Hawaii. In spite of the crowds it is a beautiful place and an easy place to get into the water. All the tourist amenities you could imagine (food, shops, etc.) are right at hand
