Aloha 'Aina: Kaho'olawe Service

These are some images and notes from our Sierra Club Outing to Kaho'olawe, March, 2008
The purpose of the outing was to restore vegetation on the Island which had been denuded by a century of grazing by goats and cattle followed by half-a-century of gunnary practice by the U.S. Navy. We were serving under the guidance and at the invitation of the Kahoolawe Island Reserve Commission (KIRC). The Commission strictly controls access to the Island to restore and preserve its physical and cultural resources.
